The American Historical Association will hold a symposium on Tuning at Florida A&M University on Thursday, October 8, 2015.  We invite historians throughout the Southeast to participate in a full day of discussions on teaching and learning in the field of history. Attendees will learn strategies to help strengthen college curricula and deepen ties between higher education faculties and the communities they serve.
During this one-day conference, the participants will hear keynote addresses from curriculum development leaders on history programs throughout the nation, as well as panel discussions with stakeholders (faculty, students, alumni, administrators, and public and private sector employers) about the value of history education. This conference will also host a number of workshops instructing participants in best practices for implementing Tuning at their own institutions. 

Goals of the Conference:

1. To establish and strengthen relationships among history faculty and departments throughout the Southeast
2. To raise awareness of the importance of faculty-driven work on history curricula for student learning 
3. To support departments in revising their curricula to meet the needs of the 21st-century student and society
4. To explore and share best practices for establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
