coverage lets the students get a whole picture of historical events that occurred at the time.

Papers can be more personal so students can write what they thought was important instead of the instructor telling the students what is important.

Yes, gave different views than just those assigned. Sometimes changed my views and sometimes didn't.

Web is available 24/7 and if you lose a document you can go back and get it. Also, not so many papers. You can print what you need and not everything else.

Discussion gave the change to hear many views and let you form your own view

Papers give you the chance to express your views and show you understand.

I enjoyed this course very much. I hate history, but Mr. Kelly made it very enjoyable and easy to understand. I think you need to teach more subjects at this university, it would make it much easier for all of us to go to class.

It was hard to defend what I thought without physically being there with the person reading it.

In discussion you hear other points of view and can see ways of looking at a topic that I had never thought of.

I prefered focused because it allowed one to understand the entire event preceding actual event and the consequences.

Exams make me nervous and I tend to cram and memorize notes rather than take time to learn the material and use my brain.

I loved the course. It combined everything that helps me learn into one way this course was designed. It focused on topics and the papers made understanding why the event took place easier.

Writer's block!!! After writing about 12-15 papers for all classes this semester I have started running out of things to say.

I enjoyed this class and its format. It's nice to have interesting profs. Instead of the stogy (sic) old farts we're used to.

When one is asked to discuss something with pears (sic), he/she actually must know the material.

Quality/knowledge over quantity

Separate the good students from the bad, not near as judgemental as papers.

I'm not very talkative, I prefer to sit back and just evaluate what everyone has to say.

For one thing, it would be more $$ and it is too typical

I personally get more out of lecture because I know what the teacher is saying will be what we are tested over.

It is something new compared to other classes and you get a full coverage of the material.

With papers you can tell what you have learned instead of being asked with a test that m ight not be over what was covered in class.

I was on-line and wanted someone's opinion on my idea. It helped me reach people that I didn't know for help.

I'm a poor organizer. I tend to lose papers. It's nice to be able to fall back on the internet for my materials.

Lecture puts me to sleep. I don't feel involved in the learning experience.

Why fly through material, forgetting most of what you were supposed to learn, when you can grasp a few subjects really well.

I think essays and exams are valid methods of testing.

You are one of the most interesting teachers I've ever had. I enjoyed your enthusiasm and interest in our thoughts. Although I didn't attend class like I should, but that resulted from laziness to get out of bed, not lack of interest in the class. I appreciate the excitement you brought to the classroom. I actually feel smarter after taking this class.

If you want to learn about as many topics as possible, you should have learned about it in H.S. (I did).

Essay writing is not one of my strong points, I feel my grade could have been better with an examination

I prefer a focused topic rather than cramming it all in. I learn better and actually become interested this way.

Honestly this was the best history course I've ever taken. I actually looked forward to coming. I think the way you taught it made it so much more interesting. For example, I've been taught about the Holocaust for years, but never did I fully comprehend this tragedy until this course. Thanks for making it fun!

I wouldn't have prefered it, because it made you feel like you ewre researching, but it would have been nice to have access to print form in case I couldn't get to a computer.

Often times for exams you memorize and then forget. Papers made you work and think about your own ideas.

I really enjoyed using the internet for this course. I found it very useful and convenient. In addition to the internet, I enjoyed how this class was conducted. The discussions were better than just having a lecture every time. Dr. Kelly was very approachable and willing to help students out which was very nice. I would recommend Dr. Kelly to any student who needed to take a history class.
