Anonymous One Primary source: week 12 Incident of the life of slave girl A grandmother’s collections of Dixie’s

How do these two accounts of slavery differ? Are the any similarities? The two accounts differ in that in one account, the slaves are still held in bondage while on the other the slaves are free. Incident of the life of a slave girl is an example of a slave under bondage. The slave girl was property of her master. She did not have any intimate working relation with her master and was punished harshly. In my grandmother ‘s collection slaves are free. The letters stated the reaction of free slaves, and their relief from the plantation life. The slaves were free to move as they wanted. They no longer performed hard labor. They were able to move around and visit other slaves in the plantation and they came back free. The accounts are similar in that the Native Americans especially the blacks were faced with discrimination. They were looked down upon as slaves and the property of the whites. Although some were free, they still did not get their full equal rights
