Andrew Jackson’s political career really began in the state of Tennessee, where he held a copious amount of positions for an adequate amount of time for each post. Originally he was running on the Democratic ballet, but times had been changing along with the societal roles of the nation so once the new political platforms had been established Johnson began to ponder his role in the nation. When asked to run along with Abraham Lincoln as his vice president, no one from the Republican Party would have ever thought the events thereafter to come true, the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. And so, Andrew Johnson became president of the United States. The person who wrote this obituary probably didn’t think Johnson should have been impeached. He glorified his career, even found it remarkable. He speaks about Johnson’s career as a politician, and as a leader. His comments on Johnson’s policies were all generally positive, showing appreciation for almost all of his ideas, and being understanding of how he might have made an error in his procedures. He explains Johnson as a president, and as an individual, and only reiterates what others during that time said about Johnson, while leaving his personal comments on this part out of the obituary. Other primary sources that could be consulted in order to draw a valid conclusion about the reasons, and justice of Johnson’s impeachment could be the congressional documentation from the Senators and House members. I’m sure their personal notations, if ever documented, would be a valid enough source to have a better understanding of the situation. Maybe two opposing view points, pro and con impeachment, so that a reader may interpret their own opinion after reading the two arguments, only while beforehand have knowledge of his event in history, so that an understanding has already been established.
