Tasheeva Drayton History 67 Week fourteen

Andrew Johnson grew up with politics in his blood. Ever since he was young he had an opinion on a political issue that was taking place. He listened to other politicians and took note on what they were saying and this was at the age of ten. He later went on to be a democratic elector for martin Van Buren in 1840. Then in 1843 he was elected to congress in the first Tennessee district, a position he held for 10 years. Next he was elected governor and in 1855 he was re-elected. In 1857 he becomes a senator which led him to his victory in the election of 1964 as Vice President. Due to the tragic assassination of President Abraham Lincoln he became President in1865. The writer of this obituary respected Johnson a lot and admired his ways of politics. "He was headstrong and 'sure he was right' even in his errors. I think that he felt that impeachment was the right thing to do. Johnson and the rest of the government did not see eye to eye on anything. He was very set in his ways and disagreed with congress on everything. Th President and his congress should work together on issues but here they were all against him. Other primary sources that you could go to that would justify or give more reason for his impeachment would be a biography of Andrew Johnson. A book on the history of the United states Presidents. Chronicles from that time in age and maybe an autobiographical source.
