What other primary soources do you think ought to be sounsulted in order to draw a valid picture of the freedmen's condition after the Civil War? Primary sources from blacks who documented their experieces in literature, poetry, songs, etc. should be consulted and given equal or greater credibility. Other primary sources may include newspaper reports from northern cities and documents/articles from abolitionists organizations.
