The War of Independence is a war between the British and the Americans. The Americans won the war. I say this because the Americans had three major advantages over the British because of the British Army's poor planning. The first advantage the Americans had was that the British had to transport men and supplies across the Atlantic Ocean. The Brtish did not succed a lot of times in conquering this task. The book call it, "a logistic challenge of unprecedented complexity." Which mean that the British sent mean over but wasn't prepared for the journey. Men experienced things such as fatigue, illness, not enough rations, etc. The second advatage is the America was too vast to be conquered by conventional military methods. The British was not prepared to fight on such a large piece of land. They were sucessful at conquering the port cities but didn't know how to conquer the inland cities. The third advatage that the Americans had over the British is that the British strategiests never appreciated the depth of the Americans' commitment to a political ideology. This means the the British army never realized that the Americn army would be much stronger because thier men wanted to be thier and made the decision to fight for thier country. Unlike the British men who were only there for the money or for just "something to do".
