Introduction

This website is operated by the American Historical Association, and is provided to AHA customers subject to the following terms of use. By using this site you agree to be bound by the following terms. The AHA may, in its sole discretion, modify the terms without notice to you. Please review such changes, by continuing to access the site you are agreeing to these changes. When using and or ordering from the site you are subject to posted guidelines or rules applied to such services, features, products or orders that may be posted. All such guidelines are included in the terms. The acronym AHA shall be used to refer to the American Historical Association in the following document.

Description of Services

This site allows users to research, review, and purchase AHA publications. The services the AHA offers through this website may change periodically without notice. New features added to the site that modify the services will be subject to the terms listed here.

Registering on the site

If you decided to register on the AHA website when purchasing publications or provide other information to the website, you agree to: Provide truthful, accurate, current, and complete information about yourself. You also agree to update said information to keep it true, accurate, current, and complete. If you provide any information that does not meet the above criteria, the AHA reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account, and deny use of services on the site.

Purchasing Products

If you make a purchase from the AHA Site, you are transacting with the AHA and ownership of any purchased items transfers to you immediately upon shipment. All sales of AHA material are final. The AHA does not accept returns.  Publications may take as long as 4 weeks to arrive. 

Member Accounts and Passwords

If you currently have a membership account with the AHA, a username and password have already been created for you as outlined on the member login page. If you choose to register a non-member account with the site you will create a username and password while completing the registration process. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and account. In addition you are responsible for all activities that occur under your password and or account. Within these terms you agree to: notify the AHA of any unauthorized use of your account or personal information or any security breach that may occur. And ensure you log out of your account at the end of each use. The AHA is not liable for any loss or damage arising from failure to comply with this section.

Privacy

Any information provided to the AHA is subject to our privacy policy. For further information please see the privacy policy page. Our privacy policy is hereby incorporated into the terms by this reference.

Materials on Site and Property rights

All materials on this site are subject to and protected under copyright, trademark and / or other intellectual property rights and laws. All copyrights and copyrightable materials are owned by the AHA and/ or its suppliers or licensors, all rights reserved. The AHA allows you to view and download the materials only for personal, and non-commercial use, provided that you keep intact all copyright and other proprietary notices contained in the materials.

Except when stated, you may not copy, reproduces, distribute, republish, download, perform, display, post, transmit, frame, or otherwise use any material in any form or by any means without prior written permission from the AHA, or the holder of the property rights. You may not modify the materials in anyway or used them for any public or commercial purposes. You are forbidden to impede the operation of this site and any form.

The trademarks and logos contained or described on the site are the property of the AHA and/or its suppliers and licensors and may not be copied, imitated, framed, or otherwise used, in whole or in part, without the prior written permission of the AHA or its affiliates. All page headers, custom graphics, button icons and scripts are marks of the AHA and may not be copied, imitated or otherwise used, in whole or in part, without the prior written permission of the AHA. The AHA will enforce its intellectual property rights to the fullest extent of the law if need be.

Submissions to the Website

By submitting comments and or review to the website you agree to not submit anything that is unlawful, indecent, explicit, pornographic, profane, hateful, abusive, harassing, threatening, or other objectionable information or material as deemed to be so by the AHA. You agree that you will not submit any information or material that is protected by copyright, licensing, or other intellectual property without prior approval from the holder of said rights. You also agree you will not use submissions for solicitation purposes of non AHA material.

Information submitted to the Site is deemed non-proprietary and non-confidential and may be used or altered by the AHA without restriction. By submitting information to the site you give the AHA the nonexclusive right to reproduce or modify it without compensation or attribution to you.

Any opinions, statements or other material expressed or posted by third parties are those of the third parties and not of the AHA. The AHA does not endorse, and shall not be responsible or liable for any such opinion, statement or other material posted on or accessible through the Sites.

Limitation of Liability

You understand and agree that the AHA is not liable for any direct or indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages resulting from. A. The use or the inability to use the site or its services. B. The cost of procurement of substitute goods and services resulting from any information purchase or obtained thru the website or services of the website. C. Unauthorized access and or modification of your transmissions or data. D. Any other matter relating to the sites or services.

If you are not satisfied with the AHA site, or do not agree to any of the terms and conditions listed above it is your sole responsibility to terminate the use of this site.

The AHA reserves the right to suspend and or terminate the Terms listed above and your ability to access the site, or services provided by the site at its discretion.
