Cecily McCaffrey

Cecily McCaffrey is an associate professor of History at Willamette University and currently serves as History department chair. She teaches East Asian History, offering courses that range from a survey of Silk Road history in the 7th-14th centuries to a seminar on the historiography of the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). Her research focuses on popular resistance and state-society relations in late imperial China. Cecily’s interest in the Tuning project is closely related to developments on the Willamette campus: the university administration is in the process of refining her assessment regimen; the College of Liberal Arts is revising the General Education curriculum; and the History department is revising the requirements for the major. The Tuning conversation is salient to all of these initiatives.
