In conformity with policy established by the Ohio Board of Regents, the Department of History offers doctoral dissertation fields only in "contemporary history," defined as the period since the end of World War I and in no case to encompass a topic set primarily before 1918.

Special Programs or Resources

Scripps School of Journalism.

The department offers doctoral students teaching assistantships which pay a yearly stipend of $15,500 plus a waiver of tuition. Doctoral students may also qualify for a CHI fellowship of $14,200 plus a tuition waiver. Doctoral students can usually expect financial aid for four academic years (12 quarters.)
