Program Description

The history department offers graduate programs of study leading to either the MA, the MAT, or the PhD degrees in history. These programs are intended to prepare graduate students for productive research, effective teaching, and independent reading and scholarship.

Special Programs or Resources

Library specialization in US, especially US West, Latin America, Europe, and cultural theory plus cultural history.

Financial Aid

Teaching assistantships and generous scholarships are available.

Degree Requirements

72 credits, written comprehensive examinations, and oral defense in dissertation.
