Program Description
The doctoral program emphasizes the history of the American West, the history of science and technology, comparative environmental history, and public history.
Special Programs or Resources
The Department has several paid internships in Yellowstone National Park. The Department is extremely active in building new programs that link the history of science, the history of technology, environmental history, and the history of the American West.
Financial Aid
There are university-wide fellowships as well as a limited number of departmental fellowships for doctoral students. Students often have the opportunity to work with faculty as research assistants.
Degree Requirements
M.A. plus 25 credits of course work and 18 credits of supervised dissertation research and writing.
