Program Description

Brandeis's Graduate Program in History embraces the eclecticism of the discipline and the initiative of graduate students to design flexible courses of study that advance their unique interests. It trains students for research and teaching through intensive coursework, independent studies, and supervised research.

Financial Aid

As part of the graduate training program, Ph.D. students are required to participate in undergraduate teaching, normally during their second, third, and fourth years.

All teaching fellows enroll in a section of HIST 340a and b, which provides supervision as well as instruction in the aims and techniques of teaching history at the college level.
