Program Description
Doctoral degrees in or connected with United States, Latin American, and European history. Small program emphasizing close supervision by faculty with individual students.
Special Programs or Resources
Extensive open-stack library with special collections in Latin America, Vietnam. Cooperative Ph.D. program with Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.
Financial Aid
Competitive fellowships and teaching assistantships available to new Ph.D. students. Competitive dissertation research assistantships for fourth year of study.
Degree Requirements
Twenty-four hours of course work and twenty-four hours of dissertation work required. Three written qualifying examinations and one oral qualifying examination.
