Announces
The John H. Dunning Prize
for 2015
In recognition of outstanding historical writing in United States history, the American Historical Association offers the John H. Dunning Prize. Established by a bequest from Mathilde Dunning in 1927 to be awarded for an outstanding monograph on any subject relating to United States history, this prize is offered biennially in odd-numbered years.
1. To be eligible for consideration, an entry must be of a scholarly historical nature. It must be the author's first or second book, and have an imprint of 2013 or 2014. Research accuracy, originality, and literary merit are important factors.
2. In addition to sending a copy of each prize entry to members of the selection committee, please complete the Data Collection Form at the link below. One form must be completed for each entry. Fields marked with a blue star are required.
3. One copy of each entry (no more than five titles from any one publisher) must be received by each of the following committee members. Entries must be postmarked by or on MAY 15, 2015, to be eligible—late entries will NOT be considered.
Contact information for judges and a submission data collection form
will be posted by March 30.
Please Note: The deadline for submission of entries is Wednesday, May 15, 2015. Entries will not be returned. Recipients will be announced at the January 7-10, 2016, AHA annual meeting in Atlanta, GA.
