Civil War Talk Focused on African American Soldiers at Surratt House

CLINTON, MD – Surratt House Museum is hosting historian Edna Greene Medford, Ph.D., for a talk on the Civil War, ‘U.S. Colored Troops and the Fight for the Union,’ on Saturday, August 8, 2015.

Medford, who received her Ph.D. in U.S. history from the University of Maryland, is the current Chair and former Director of Howard University’s Department of History’s graduate and undergraduate programs. She has contributed to several scholarly works focused on African Americans in the Civil War, notably co-authoring “The Emancipation Proclamation: Three Views.”

This is a free event. Advanced registration is not available. Seats are limited and participants are asked to arrive early.
