THE LITTLE CRANE AND THE LONG JOURNEY: A FABLE

A Theatrical Performance

At the Japanese American Memorial (The intersection of Louisiana Ave and New Jersey Ave)

Playing from July 9-25th

Using movement and animal characters, The Little Crane and the Long Journey tells an incredible story of bravery and adventure, inspired by the true story of the 442nd Regimental Combat Unit during World War II, in a fable about our collective American past.

Our fable follows the adventures of a family of Japanese Cranes - Mother, Father and the Young Crane. They leave their home to find a better life alongside a stream. When they arrive, they are met with suspicion and anger by the ducks who already live there because they look so different. The Young Crane and the family do their best to fit in. Despite befriending a Turtle, they continue to struggle and are pushed to the outskirts of the community.

When the Ducks learn that a great danger is quickly approaching, the Young Crane volunteers to join the Ducks in defending their homeland in a dangerous battle against a hungry Fox. Through the selflessness of the Young Crane, the Ducks come to see that you don't have to look the same to support each other and make a home.

The Little Crane is appropriate for 3rd Grade through adults.

Please join us for the story of equality and American History!
