The Alliance for Learning in World History is a collaboration of educators and history scholars organized to advance the teaching and learning of world history in classrooms—in the U.S. and in every part of the world. The Alliance is anchored at the University of Pittsburgh, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB).

It links leading practitioners in world history scholarship, curriculum, teacher preparation, professional development, and educational research. The Alliance has adopted general guidelines for study of world history and for active support of both professional development programs and empirical research on student world-historical learning. Its work in 2012-2013, funded by the Social Science Research Council and the British Council, has been to lay the groundwork for ongoing work.
