The Furthermore grants in publishing program, an unusual source of financial support for publishing projects, is now accepting fall grant applications. The grants will assist nonfiction books having to do with art, architecture, and design; cultural history, the city, and related public issues; and conservation and preservation. Fall applications must be submitted by mail postmarked no later than September 1; we are not able to process applications submitted by fax or email.

Furthermore applicants must be 501(c)3 organizations. Book proposals to which a publisher is already committed and for which there is a feasible distribution plan are preferred. Recipients are located across the nation and occasionally abroad but have mostly been in New York State and New York City.

Please note: Books that have recently been awarded a Furthermore Grant become eligible for The Alice, Furthermore’s new annual award of $25,000, established in 2013 to recognize and applaud a distinguished illustrated book in a field of Furthermore interest. Grant application forms are available from the Furthermore office and the website http://www.furthermore.org/ .
