The Fulbright Scholar competition for academic year 2015-2016 launched in February, and several countries in Europe are offering Distinguished Chair opportunities for scholars in American Studies Studies to teach and research abroad. The Council for International Exchange of Scholars administers the Fulbright Scholar Program on behalf of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Among the opportunities are the Fulbright-Palacky University Distinguished Chair in the Czech Republic; the Danish Distinguished Chair in American Studies; the Fulbright Bicentennial Chair in Finland; the Laszlo Orszagh Chair in American Studies in Hungary; the Distinguished Chair in American Studies in Poland; and the Fulbright-Uppsala University Chair in American Studies in Sweden.

Awards in the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program are viewed as among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program. Candidates should be eminent scholars and have a significant publication and teaching record.

More information about the Fulbright Scholar Program can be found on our website, www.cies.org, and the complete catalog of awards can be accessed online at http://catalog.cies.org/. We offer grants in every world region, so candidates may review the global list of American Studies awards here. The current competition will close on August 1, 2014.
