The global challenge of growing social inequality takes a prominent role in many of the Foundation’s Funding Initiatives; against the backdrop of rapidly changing societies, it currently deserves even more attention than ever before. Therefore, the Volkswagen Foundation will hold a conference on social inequality in co-operation with the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and other research institutions. With its Herrenhausen Conferences the Volkswagen Foundation provides international experts as well as junior researchers with a platform for an intense (inter-)disciplinary dialogue on exciting new fields of research and innovative methodological approaches. The focus will lie not on past achievements, but on current challenges provided by the reception field. We are interested in unanswered questions and unresolved problems – and in the research issues’ relevance for society. Please, find more information about the conference and the opportunity for young researchers to apply for travel grants on our website by March 1, 2014. http://www.volkswagenstiftung.de/socialinequality.html
