General Information

 

  • For the 2010 Annual Meeting, meeting registration and hotel accommodations are linked. Annual Meeting attendees must first complete the meeting registration process before making a hotel reservation at the AHA’s meeting rates.

  • Rates subject to city and state taxes of 12.50 percent plus $.23 assessment per room, per night (subject to change without notice).

  • Rates will be honored three days before and after official meeting dates of January 7–10 based upon availability of the hotel at the time the reservation is made.

  • Cut-off:  Reservations should be made by December 7, 2009. After this date, remaining inventory in each hotel’s block will be released and rooms will be available at the AHA’s convention rates on a space-available basis at the time of reservation. Frequent updates on availability will be posted on the AHA’s web site.  If all hotels sell out, the AHA will secure additional hotel rooms and post details on the AHA web site.

  • Credit Card Guarantee: A major credit card is required for all reservations at the time of booking. The following cards are accepted: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Diners Club, and Discover.

  • Cancellation policies:  Attendees must cancel at least 72 hours prior to reserved arrival date or one night’s room and taxes will be charged. If a reservation is not cancelled and the individual is a “no show,” the hotels will charge one night’s room and taxes as a penalty.

Instructions

San Diego...accommodating YOU! and its partner Experient—the housing services for the city’s convention bureau—will handle the hotel reservation process for the 2010 AHA Annual Meeting, including standard room and suite accommodations.  Office hours for phone transactions are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Central Time. Internet is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Guestrooms and suites will be booked on a first come, first served basis.

Attendees should have the following information available when calling the hotel or making a reservation online: 

  • Badge number from preregistration confirmation e-mail.  If you do not have this number, you cannot proceed.

  • Arrival and departure dates with arrival time

  • Number of rooms required (block reservations not permitted)

  • Hotel choices in order of preference

  • Type of room (single, double, triple, quad)

  • Special requests (e.g. nonsmoking, higher/lower floors, one or two beds, accessibility, etc.)

  • Number and names of persons to occupy the room(s)

  • Credit card number and expiration date (must be valid through 1/31/10)

  • Mailing address, telephone numbers, and e-mail address

Additional information:  An acknowledgement will be e-mailed when an e-mail address is provided unless otherwise indicated.  All processing deadlines and cancellation policies are noted on acknowledgements.  The attendees selected hotel will NOT send a separate confirmation.  Reservations may be cancelled by telephone, fax, or email until 5:00 p.m. CST on December 7, 2009. Attendees will not be penalized for any cancellations made through this date.  The attendee’s must contact the hotel directly beginning December 15, 2009 to process cancellations.  (Between December 7 and December 15 the housing service will forward lists of reservations to individual hotels to be processed into their reservations systems.)

    Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego (headquarters)
    • 1,500 rooms in block (hotel has 1,625 rooms in total).

    • Rates: $129 single, $169 double, $30 each additional person

     

    San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina (co-headquarters)
    • 1,195 rooms in block (hotel has 1,362 rooms in total)
    • Address: 333 West Harbor Drive
    • Rates: $129 single, $169 double, $30 each additional person

     

    Hilton San Diego Bayfront (overflow)
    • 400 rooms in block (hotel has 1,190 rooms in total)

    • Rates: $125 single, $155 double, $30 each additional person
    • NOTE: Hotel has a $75 early departure fee—guest should confirm checkout date prior to or at check-in.

Suite Rates and Inventory

For Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton:  Reservations for suites can be made by reservation form only (found on home page of hotel reservation form)

For Embassy Suites: Can be made via telephone or via web site
(same methods as a standard room reservation).

    Suite Rates and Inventory:

    • 19 Executive one-bedroom suites at $350
      Description:   Separate parlor, bedroom, and bathroom.  Parlor has seating for 4 to 6 people; parlor has Murphy bed.  Circa 350 sq. ft.

    • 10 Grand Club one-bedroom suites at $500
      Description:   Separate parlor, bedroom, and bathroom.  Parlor has seating for 4 to 6 people.  Includes kitchen area, dining room table, living room seating, Murphy bed in parlor.  Suites are on higher floors with better views. Circa 700 sq. ft.

    • 6 Hospitality one-bedroom suites at $600
      Description:   Separate parlor, bedroom, and bathroom.  Parlor can accommodate up to 30 people.  Includes kitchen area, dining room table, Murphy bed in parlor, living room seating area.  Seaport views. Circa 1,000 sq. ft.

 

San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina (co-headquarters)

  • 28 suites in block (hotel has a total of 54 suites, some inventory under renovation)

    • 22 Executive one-bedroom suites at $260
      Description:   Separate parlor, bedroom, and bathroom.  Parlor has seating for 4 to 6 people and a sofabed.  Circa 650 sq. ft.

    • 6 Deluxe one-bedroom suites at $375
      Description:   Separate parlor, bedroom, and bathroom.  Dining room area, living room area with seating for 6 people; parlor has sofabed.  Circa 900 sq. ft.

Hilton San Diego Bayfront (co-headquarters)

  • 19 suites in block (hotel has a total of 29 suites)

    Suite Rates and Inventory:

    • 9 Junior Suites at $275  (four available Jan. 4-13; five available Jan. 8-10)
      Description:   On floors 26-30. Separate parlor, connecting bedroom, and bathroom.  Parlor has conference table that seats 4 to 6 people; desk with Internet. Circa 262 sq. ft.

    • 10 Hospitality Suites at $475  (available Jan. 8-10)
      Description:   On floors 10-26. Separate parlor, connecting bedroom, and bathroom.  Parlor has conference table that seats 6 to 8 people, desk with Internet, sofabed. Circa 780 sq. ft.

 

Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown

  • 100 suites in block (hotel has a total of 337 suites)
  • Address: 601 Pacific Highway

    Suite Rates:    $159 single and double, $30 each additional person

    • Discounted suite rates available January 4 through January 13, inclusive.

    • 100 one-bedroom suites available

    • All suites include parlor with separate bedroom

    • Hotel will have a meeting room with complimentary coffee service to serve as a waiting room by interviewing candidates.

    • Each suite consists of a private room with a king size or two double beds with a living room that has a sofabed.  Galley kitchen with a wet bar, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and a well-lit dining table/working area.  Two dual-line telephones with dataport, voice mail, and two remote color televisions. A complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast and afternoon reception is included.  Children under 18 stay free.
