A Workshop for Directors of Graduate Studies

The Education of Historians for the Twenty-first Century, a report of the AHA Committee on Graduate Education, funded by the Carnegie Corporation, recommended workshops for directors of graduate studies.
The American Historical Association first sponsored such a workshop for department chairs and directors of graduate studies at the 2005 annual meeting in Seattle, and is now sponsoring another workshop.
Directors of graduate education and others interested in graduate education are invited to participate in this summer workshop, which will provide important information about, and facilitate discussion of, a range of issues critical to the work of the directors of graduate education and others involved in graduate education.
The workshop will be held at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge in Rosslyn, Virginia, just across the Potomac from Georgetown in Washington, D.C. The hotel is three miles away from the Ronald Reagan National Airport and one block from the Rosslyn Metro Station. The Kennedy Center, Smithsonian Museums as well as Arlington Cemetery are a short distance away. Free parking is available at the Hotel.
Registration and Accommodation
The registration fee of $200 will include a reception, full breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and two coffee breaks. Registration fee is due July 1, 2005.
Rooms are available at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn at Key Bridge in Northern
Virginia. The number of rooms is limited, however, and reservations must be
made (directly
with the hotel) before July 1, 2005, to receive the special, discounted rate
of $119 plus tax. The discounted rate is available August 4–6, 2005.
